THERE was an age group 'one-two' for Warrington Athletics Club at Friday's Mid-Cheshire 5k road race in Kingsley.

Colin Bishop's time of 17mins 40secs saw him win the over 60s age group, with Dave Norman finishing 13 seconds later to take second.

Four more Warrington athletes were part of a strong field, with Cameron Field first to finish – he clocked 14mins 58secs to finish 27th overall.

Under 20s Jordan Jones and Jack Wadsworth finished close together, in 15mins 42secs and 15mins 50secs respectively, while Paul Bagan was 103rd overall as he finished in 16mins 21secs.

Meanwhile, Joe Buckley was in action at the British Universities Podium 5km road race in Barrowford, where he finished 19th in 15mins 47secs to place him third in the under 20s series.

At Trafford Athletics Club's latest Grand Prix, two Warrington athletes secured personal bests while one came agonisingly close.

In the under 15s boys' 1,500m, Alex Rix was 12th in his race in a new personal best of 5mins 7.44secs.

Jack Wadsworth finally broke the two-minute barrier in the 800m, finishing his race fourth in 1min 59.60secs.

Tom Greaves returned from injury to finish third in his 3,000m race in 8mins 58.42secs – less than a second shy of his personal best.
