STEVE Price does not believe any of Warrington Wolves’ Covid-postponed fixtures will be rearranged.

The Wire’s past two scheduled home games – against Catalans Dragons and Hull FC – have both fallen victim to Covid outbreaks in the opposition ranks.

Earlier in the summer, a raft of cases within the Wire camp put paid to away fixtures against Hull KR and Leigh Centurions.

The RFL has maintained it will endeavour to reschedule any fixtures lost to Covid, although this year’s Super League table is being decided by win percentage in the increasingly likely event that proves impossible.

With the regular season approaching its end, however, Price feels time is too tight to schedule any more fixtures.

“I think it’s going to be too tight. We’ve got five games in four weeks as it is,” he said ahead of Thursday’s trip to Huddersfield Giants.

“We’ve got a short turnaround this weekend and to fit more games in is going to be too difficult I feel.”

Last Thursday’s clash with league leaders Catalans was postponed just seven hours before kick off after four of the Dragons’ travelling party tested positive just prior to boarding their flight to England.

While trying to take the positives of more training time with his players, Price could not hide his frustration at not being able to play.

“It’s hugely frustrating for the players and staff to have last week’s game cancelled at such short notice,” he said.

“We felt like we’d prepared really well and we were desperate to get out there after a disappointing performance the week before.

“We tried to replicate the game as best we could and since then, the boys have had some good training sessions under their belt.

“We were desperate to play and we were hurting from that performance the week before. We had a chance to put it right against the competition leaders.

“It is what it is – we’ve just got to punch on with it and look forward to Huddersfield.”
