THE new football season continues to gurgle into life today, with both Warrington Town and Warrington Rylands facing away trips.

Yellows have started the Northern Premier League Premier Division season promisingly, with Tuesday's 1-0 win at Stafford Rangers following up the 2-0 opening-day victory over FC United of Manchester last weekend.

Their perfect start faces a tough test this afternoon, however, as Paul Carden takes his side to the East Yorkshire coast to face Scarborough Athletic.

Town's attacking resources will be strengthened by the return of powerful striker Josh Amis, who missed the opening two games due to a suspension picked up while playing for Welsh side Flint Town United last season.

Rylands have also started the season with two victories in the NPL West Division but will park their league campaign to focus on FA Cup matters this weekend.

They travel to Prestwich Heys – who ply their trade in the North West Counties League Premier Division – for a preliminary round tie this afternoon.

Dave McNabb's side will be aiming to put themselves in the hat for Monday's first qualifying round draw, when their cross-town neighbours will enter the competition.

They are boosted by the signing of experienced frontman Matty Hughes, who has joined the club from Stalybridge Celtic and is available to make his debut this afternoon.

Callum Dolan is also expected to return from injury but Blues are still without the services of skipper Gary Kenny as well as Kane Drummond, Andy Scarisbrick, Warren Gerrard and Tom Freeman.

Both games kick off at 3pm.
