A SECOND Super League game has been postponed due to Covid-19 cases.

Leeds Rhinos' clash with St Helens is now confirmed as being off after two of the Rhinos squad tested positive for the virus.

A further seven squad members are required to self-isolate after being identified as close contacts by Test and Trace.

The match was due to be broadcast live on Sky Sports but now, the game between Hull KR and Salford Red Devils will be shown.

Warrington Wolves' game against Wakefield Trinity was believed to be under consideration for Sky coverage but that match now remains available exclusively to members on the OurLeague platform.

It comes after the clash between Huddersfield Giants and Wigan Warriors was postponed yesterday Covid-19 once again threatens to cause major disruption to the Betfred Super League.

Seven Huddersfield players have tested positive for Covid-19 in the last two days, meaning they are required to self-isolate for 10 days.

Consequently, the RFL’s Multiple Cases Group have determined that although Huddersfield’s last training session was last Wednesday (June 2), the team should not return to training until a further round of PCR testing on Friday (June 11). If there are any further positives then they would be considered further by the Multiple Case Group.

The decision was reached on the basis of the number of positive cases and given the incubation period for Covid-19 of up to 14 days.

The RFL will work with the clubs and Super League Europe on possible dates for the match to be rearranged later in the season.

This is the first fixture of the 2021 Super League campaign to fall victim to the coronavirus pandemic, which caused havoc with the 2020 season and prompted the Rugby Football League to rule that league positions will be determined by win percentages.

The Championship match between Halifax and Sheffield Eagles in May was postponed after two Eagles players returned positive tests and five more were forced to isolate under track and trace regulations.

Sunday's Women's Super League derby between St Helens and Wigan has been called off after a Saints players tested positive in the wake of Saturday's Challenge Cup final victory over York and more than five of her team-mates were ordered to self-isolate for 10 days.
