IN Saturday’s Warrington ‘derby,’ it was Woolston Rovers who claimed the local bragging rights.
A dominant second-half display allowed them to win 36-14 at neighbours Crosfields as both sides got their National Conference League campaigns underway.
An Adam Files hat-trick was the highlight for the Green and Golds at Hood Lane, with Josh Sudlow also crossing twice.
Karlton Bates and Dan Fearnley also crossed for Rovers while Soap’s points came via a John Whittaker brace and a try from Lewis Hall.
“That was a great performance today from the whole team,” Woolston head coach Mal Holt said.
“The first half was an arm-wrestle and it was probably a fair reflection that we went in level at half time.
“But in the second half we controlled the game, executing our plays much better and we stepped up more aggressively in defence.
We need to work on a few things at training ready for next week, but everyone involved should be proud of this result.”
