EAGLE Sports made sure they rolled into the Cheshire Football League’s JB Parker Cup knockout phase in fine form on Saturday.

Their passage to the quarter finals as Group D runners-up behind FC St Helens was already confirmed before Poynton arrived at Thornton Road, were they found their hosts in ruthless form.

Jordan Lockett’s hat-trick was the highlight of a 9-0 Eagle win, with Luke Sutton and Ed Burthem both scoring twice while Danny Hutchins and Brad Parker completed the rout.

They may well face St Helens again in the semi finals, but they first must negotiate a tough last-eight trip to Egerton on Saturday.

The winners of that tie, which kicks off at 2pm, will meet either St Helens or Billinge for a spot in the final.

Meanwhile, a campaign that started so promisingly for Greenalls PSO fizzled out into disappointment.

They won their first two Group C matches but lost their last four – the last being a 5-1 defeat at Broadheath Central on Saturday – to finish bottom of the group.

Daten wrapped up their campaign with a 1-1 draw with Crewe FC at Charnock Road, with Joe Barker on the scoresheet for the Atoms.
