WARRINGTON Rylands 1906 will be all guns blazing to reach the FA Vase Final at Wembley when they face Walsall Wood in Saturday's semi-final showdown at Gorsey Lane.

All eyes will be on Dave McNabb's men as the surprise contenders attempt to make more history in the prestigious national competition, after knocking out holders Hebburn Town last week to continue a journey that has taken them further than ever before.

And as excitement builds, check out these facts – from FA Vase history to record holders – so that you are all clued up for the big kick-off and why this means so much to the teams and their towns.

1. The FA Vase replaced the FA Amateur Cup in 1974

2. First time round 220 teams took part compared to the 612 teams that entered this season, making the FA Vase one of the most competitive cups in football

3. Rylands could become the first Warrington side to win the competition. Neighbours Warrington Town lost 3-2 to St Helens Town at Wembley on their only appearance in the final in 1987

4. The last Cheshire side to play in the final were Nantwich Town, who defeated Hillingdon Borough 3-1 in the 2005/2006 season

5. History will be made as none of the 2020-2021 semi-finalists (Binfield, Warrington Rylands, Walsall Wood, and United Services Portsmouth) have reached the FA Vase Final before. Binfield await today's winners

6. At the other end of the spectrum, Whitley Bay are the side to have won the FA Vase the most – on four occasions

7. Whitley Bay also hold the record for the most consecutive wins, their hat-trick of successes coming in 2009, 2010 and 2011

8. Third time lucky is not always the case as AFC Sudbury hold the unfortunate record of losing in three consecutive finals

9. Rylands and Walsall are vying to contest the 15th FA Vase Final at the new Wembley. The first one was contested by Truro City and AFC Totton, the latter losing 3-1 in 2007
