WHAT better way to smash one personal best record to signal your return to competitive athletics – blitz another one!
Grappenhall's University of Birmingham student Jordan Jones took an outstanding 33 seconds off his previous fastest when he clocked 15 mins 07secs to finish as the third under 20s runner in the Mid Cheshire 5K.
That placed the Warrington Athletics Club runner 32nd overall just nine days after completing 3,000m five seconds quicker than he has before in a university series that was his first race for 18 months.

Personal bests must have been contagious in the Mid Cheshire 5k in Kingsley, as three WAC teammates also managed the feat.
Jones was followed home by Chris Stanford in 54th place with a pb 15mins 35secs to finish eighth in the over 40s age group.
Next to finish in 101st place was Paul Bagan with 16mins 09secs as 14th over 40.
Steve Watmough was the final man home from the club but in some style.
He was 141st overall but won the over 55s age group with a pb 16mins 34secs just six days after running his fastest ever half marathon.

Jude Peck led the club's women home, finishing in 302nd place overall with a personal best 19mins 03 secs to finish third in the over 45 women’s age group and 43rd woman.
Some impressive debut performances were achieved too.
In 334th place was Jess Connolly – 55th woman and fifth under 17 – in 19mins 32secs.
Imogen Wharton, still an under 13 on the road and possibly the youngest in the race, recorded 20mins 40secs to finish 64th woman and first in her age group.
And Molly Wormald, still under 15s on the road, placed 422nd overall, 92nd woman and second in her age group with 23mins 51secs.
Meanwhile, a Warrington mother and son tackled the Chase the Sun Tatton 10K
Warrington Athletics Club's Jack Wadsworth, making his debut over the distance, finished fifth in 35mins 43secs to win the under 20 age group, while his mum Jo, who competes for Lymm Runners, came home 290th overall, 95th woman and ninth over 50s woman with her second fastest time for the distance.
