THE amateur rugby league season kicks off for real this weekend.

After two weeks of friendlies, the North West Men’s League gets underway on Saturday and Latchford Albion go into a tough opening weekend trip to Haydock in fine form.

They hammered neighbours Culcheth Eagles 50-10 in a friendly match at Shaw Street at the weekend.

With the game delicately poised at 10-10 at the break, Latchford scored 40 unanswered points in the second half.

Matty Rudd and Matthew Nash both crossed twice, with further Albion tries coming from Jake Ashall, Gareth Fairhurst, Alex Davies, Joe Grundy, Charlie McCurrie and Matty Ellis.
