STEVE Price has warned his Warrington Wolves side not to "get carried away" with themselves ahead of today's clash with Hull KR.

The Wire go into the game off the back of their best display of 2021 to date – a 24-8 win over the previously-unbeaten Catalans Dragons in Perpignan on Saturday.

All those of a primrose and blue persuasion will hope that result kickstarts their campaign, which had got off to a stuttering start.

However, facing them down today is a Rovers side confident following back-to-back victories, with Leeds Rhinos and Huddersfield Giants both beaten at Craven Park.

It also sees Rovers boss Tony Smith face Warrington at The Halliwell Jones Stadium for the first time since his eight-year spell as Wire head coach came to an end in 2017.

Price is under no illusions that his side are not at the level they expect just yet but wants to see another step in the right direction this afternoon.

"There’s been small steps forward in the Swinton and Hull FC games but it was our best performance of the season last weekend," he said.

"Credit to the boys but we understand we need to keep improving to get to where we want to get to. That’s the exciting part for us.

"It’s important we don’t get carried away with ourselves.

"They’re playing really good football. They have been unlucky not to have won a couple more games.

"They’ve recruited quite well and they’re playing as a team.

"It’s going to be a tough game for us and we need to make sure we continue to build on our performance last week."
