STEVE Price has once again batted away continued speculation about the future of half-back Gareth Widdop.
The England international was the subject of constant rumours about a return to the NRL throughout his first season with The Wire, especially after his wife and children returned to Australia.
The club always insisted Widdop would be back for 2021 and this rang true as he returned to take a full part in pre-season training.
He has started the season in fine form but the rumours are yet to die down, with Brisbane Broncos and Cronulla Sharks the latest clubs linked.
However, Price has insisted the 32-year-old, who is in the second season of a three-year deal, remains committed to The Halliwell Jones Stadium.
“From my point of view and Gareth’s point of view, there’s nothing to say,” he said.
“It’s football as usual for us. There was all that speculation last year and it was all untrue.
“He’s committed to our football club, its as simple as that.”
