FIXTURES have been confirmed for Warrington Wolves Academy, under 17s and under 16s teams.
Nine Super League and three Championship clubs, including The Wire, have put forward Academy under 19s teams to play in a series of friendly matches - starting with Newcastle Thunder visiting Victoria Park on May 15.
There will be no Academy Championship this season because an agreement has been reached between the RFL and heads of youth that the priority should be maximising playing and development opportunities for young players, after the loss of the bulk of the 2020 season as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The competition has reverted from to under 19s in 2021, a practical response to the impact of Covid-19 as that has led to the postponement of the Reserve Grade competition which had been introduced for 2020 and involved the Academy becoming a competition for under 18s.
Wire's under 17s and under 16s will also commence their fixtures in May, both having tasty looking home clashes with St Helens for starters.
