THE average age of this year's Warrington Wolves squad compares relatively well with the rest of Super League.
The Wire's group of 29 named squad members has an average age of just over 25 – the fifth lowest in the competition.
At an age of 18 years 227 days, second rower Ellis Longstaff is the youngest member of a Wolves first-team squad that contains six teenagers.
Josh Thewlis, Riley Dean, Eribe Doro, Connor Wrench and Jacob Gannon are the others yet to turn 20, although prop forward Doro will do so before the season kicks off on March 28.
At the other end of the scale, The Wire's oldest squad member is Australian legend Greg Inglis – aged 34 years 33 days.
Steve Price has seven squad members aged 30 or over – Inglis, Stefan Ratchford, Blake Austin, Gareth Widdop, Chris Hill, Mike Cooper and Jason Clark.
On average, Wigan Warriors will go into the campaign with the youngest squad (average age 24.62) while newly-promoted Leigh Centurions have the oldest (28.66).
