AS expected, the decision to hand the last remaining place in Super League to Leigh Centurions has sparked a big reaction from rugby league fans.
The Wire's near neighbours beat off competition from five other Championship clubs to take the final seat at the top table for 2021 after an independent panel unanimously backed their bid.
Wire co-captain Chris Hill was delighted to see his former club back in the big time...
Massive congrats to @LeighCenturions returning to @SuperLeague I know how much it means to the fans and the area 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 #seeyouatheHJ

Teammate Matt Davis, who was championing the cause of his old employers London Broncos, was less enthused...
M62 expansion at its finest🥱 https://t.co/L1gAx7FFB7

Wire supporters were also quick to have their say...

Suprising, but they have the strongest squad. Missed opportunity to expand in either Toulouse or York, but glad it wasn't the Bulls

Joke of a decision, never going to grow the game with decisions like this, London/York/Toulouse would have been better opportunities

The evidence was there. Wigan and Elstone set it up. They both voted Toronto out and in a complete opposite to expansion....get a Wigan based team in!!!!

It's a massive step backwards. The sport has decided that we don't want to grow and that it's happy being a minority sport in a small pocket of England.

Really pleased it’s Leigh

The definition of insanity : Repeating the same process over & over again but expecting a different result.

Should have been Toulouse!!

Says everything about Super League's ambitions, doesn't it? Leigh will be OK. Bit of a repeat of the last couple of times they were up, I'd expect. At least it wasn't Bradford - no way they are ready and would've been a joke of a decision. Choosing Leigh just a missed opportunity
