THE North West Counties Football League will resume on Saturday, the league have confirmed.

This news follows the FA’s announcement that clubs in Tier 3 areas can admit small numbers of supporters to home matches.

As Warrington currently falls within under Tier 2 restrictions – although this is being reviewed on Wednesday – it means Warrington Rylands can have up to 300 spectators at their home matches.

Blues are in FA Vase action this weekend as their third-round trip to Longridge Town is slated for Saturday, so their first league game back will be at Runcorn Town on Monday, December 28.

Meanwhile, the Northern Premier League – which contains Warrington Town – have announced they will wait until after the government’s first review of the tier system before making a decision on a restart.

In a previous statement before the change of position on fans at Tier 3 clubs, the NPL had postponed all games up to and including Saturday, December 19.

"The Trident Leagues (the Isthmian, Northern Premier and Southern Football Leagues) welcome the decision to allow some fans into grounds situated in Tier 3 areas,” a league statement read.

“However, in light of the decision of all 224 Clubs only last week to vote overwhelmingly in favour of suspending the current season the Leagues have decided to wait to see the implications of the Government’s review of the Tier system in England – due next Wednesday – before making any further announcements."
