ALTHOUGH these Warrington Wolves pictures are 30 years old, you're getting a first look at them now.

This match action is from the 1990-91 season, with The Wire wearing primrose and blue hoops - as they will be in next year's home kit.

The reason these pictures have never been published until now is for technical reasons.

At the time, Warrington Guardian's newspaper was transitioning from publishing black and white images to colour ones.

And, because of the constraints of the press, only a limited number of pages could be printed in colour each week - with one of them being the back page.

So although a number of pictures were taken in colour film, only one from each game would have been published on the back page.

And of course at the time there was no internet for additional pictures to be published.

Since then, pictures have been stored away but, with Warrington Wolves' 2020 season over, we've delved into the archives to see what we can find.

We're publishing these now because of the kit design being similar to what next year's Wire team will be wearing and what fans are currently buying in readiness for the 2021 campaign.

And because we think you'll like seeing them.
