WARRINGTON being placed under the toughest coronavirus restrictions has presented issues for many grassroots sports clubs.

Warrington Hockey Club are no different as guidance against travelling in and out of the region has effectively suspended their participation in league fixtures.

Together with their neighbours at Lymm Hockey Club, however, they are aiming to find a solution to keep the game going in the town.

In what looks to be their last league fixture for a while, a young women’s firsts achieved a notable 3-0 victory at Whitchurch, with Molly Rudd scoring twice and Jamie Lindsay adding another goal.

Captain Carrie Wright said: “The girls who stepped up to help the first XI out for possibly our last league fixture for a while all played really well and helped us achieve a win."

The newly-promoted men’s firsts were handed a lesson by a well-organised Macclesfield side, who inflicted a 5-2 defeat upon them.

Warrington did well to cancel out a two-goal Macclesfield lead prior to half time, but the hosts stretched away after the break.
