THE walkover victory awarded to Warrington Wolves against Salford Red Devils has raised more than a few questions.
Yesterday, The Wire were handed a 24-0 victory after Salford were forced to forfeit Friday's scheduled Super League match due to player availability issues.
This was set to leave Steve Price's side without a fixture once more, but they will now face Huddersfield Giants at the Totally Wicked Stadium instead in a clash brought forward from Round 21.
However, one of the questions raised surrounding the Salford fixture is whether or not they count towards suspensions being served by two Wire players.
Tom Lineham is currently in the midst of an eight-game ban for a "squirrel grip" on Alex Foster during the win over Castleford Tigers in September while Sitaleki Akauola was handed a three-game ban for a dangerous throw during Warrington's last match – the 32-6 win over Leeds Rhinos on October 13.
Here is what the RFL said when we asked about this issue:
These are unusual circumstances so the matter will be decided early next week - before Warrington’s scheduled fixture with Hull KR.
As things stand, tomorrow’s game against Huddersfield counts as one more match for both players, leaving Lineham having served seven matches and Akaoula one.
