ON this day seven years ago, the Rugby League World Cup well and truly arrived in Warrington.
New Zealand and Samoa served up a classic in front of a packed-out Halliwell Jones Stadium crowd – and Sonny Bill Williams had a moment to forget!
Having strolled in for what looked a simple try, the iconic Kiwi forward slipped over the dead ball line before touching down to cue raucous laughter from the terraces.
It did not matter in the end as the Kiwis ran out 42-24 winners, but not before a Samoa comeback that electrified the home crowd.
