FORMER Lymm High School student Alex Mitchell is in line to make his England rugby union debut this autumn.

The Northampton Saints scrum-half, who came through the junior section at Lymm RFC to play for the senior team, is part of a 28-man training squad for six fixtures this autumn as chosen by head coach Eddie Jones.

Mitchell could feature as England wrap up their delayed Six Nations campaign against Italy and face Georgia, Ireland and Wales initially in the Autumn Nations Cup.

The 23-year-old played in an uncapped international against the Barbarians last summer and impressed by setting up two tries.

His first taste of the Twickenham turf came in a Lymm jersey as part of the club's victorious National Under 12s Cup side while with Lymm High School, he was part of the under 18s team that reached the NatWest Cup quarter finals on two occasions.

Mitchell has earned England caps at every age group from under 16s and now has the chance for his first senior cap.

England face the Barbarians on October 25 before travelling to face Italy on October 31.

They then face Georgia (November 14) and Ireland (November 21) at Twickenham before an away match against Wales on November 28. Their final Autumn Nations Cup match will be at Twickenham on December 6 against yet-to-be-confirmed opponents.
