SALFORD Red Devils’ Dan Sarginson has had a two-match ban for a reckless high tackle on Hull FC’s Jamie Shaul overturned on appeal.
An independent tribunal decided that the tackle was ‘careless’ rather than ‘reckless’ and downgraded the offence from Grade B to A, which does not carry a suspension.
This means the full-back will be available to play against Warrington Wolves in the Challenge Cup semi-final at St Helens on Saturday.
A tribunal decision on Sarginson’s teammate, Luke Yates, is expected later this afternoon. The forward is appealing against the one match penalty handed out by yesterday’s Match Review Panel for a Grade B Dangerous Contact with Danny Houghton during the same game.
