DANNY Walker demonstrated on Thursday night that he is a more-than-capable deputy for Daryl Clark in the Warrington Wolves side.
He has been doing so for most of the season having shown many improvements in his game this year that Steve Price clearly sees – he has featured in all but two of The Wire’s games this season.
But with Clark absent due to the birth of his first child against Castleford Tigers, the Warringtonian dummy-half needed to step up – and he did.
If playing 80 minutes for the first time in a Super League game was not impressive enough, the stats he racked up show just how good a performance he put in.
Nobody on either side topped his tally of 58 tackles while he also made 114 metres with ball in hand.
Only Mike Cooper (167), Matty Ashton (163) and Jake Mamo (127) made more metres than Walker on the Wire side.
