AS is the norm in pre-season, trialists have been given the chance to impress at Warrington Town in both training and friendly matches.

It seems some of them have caught the eye of manager Paul Carden, who says offers are on the table for a couple of players who have featured in games thus far.

Indeed, a trialist who has featured in all of Yellows’ pre-season games scored a superb winning goal in Friday’s win over City of Liverpool at Cantilever Park.

There have been two goalkeepers also trying out to be Town’s number one when the Northern Premier League season kicks off on September 19.

As well as between the posts, the Yellows boss previously confirmed he was looking for a striker, a central midfielder and a left winger to bolster his squad.

The jury may still be out on some of the trialists, but Carden has seen plenty from others.

“I’ve spoken to a couple of them and have made offers for them. It’s a case of trying to get them done now,” he said.

“We’re still looking for a few players and are trying to find the right ones.

“There’s plenty of players out there but we don’t want to just bring them in for the sake of it.

“It’s still a long time until the start of the season and players are popping up all the time having been for pre-season at other clubs without getting anything.

“We’re waiting for a few of them to drop in but there’s still time.”

Town's next pre-season friendly is at Cantilever Park tomorrow night against National League North outfit Southport.

The game could see Dylan Vassallo play against his former side - he penned a deal with the Sandgrounders having spent pre-season in training with them.
