WINNINGTON Park were big winners against Northwich as the reshaped UK Fast Cheshire Cricket League got underway at the weekend.

After a minute’s silence was held to remember all the cricketers lost to Covid-19, including local umpire Neville Abberley, Northwich were put into bat and were all out for 35 runs in Division 1-2 South West.

James Hendry was the first to strike, clean bowling Simon James in his second over.

Bryan Shingler, playing his first senior game in many a year, also took two wickets, as well as holding on to two good catches including the removal of the dangerous Gladwin Cherian off the bowling of Hendry.

Then man of the match Mike Dunning came on to bowl, taking 5-5 off 6.1 overs.

There was also a wicket on debut for Danny Westwood.
