WARRINGTON RUFC’S under 16s are heading into a critical cup clash “in a good place,” according to their coach.

They take on Fleetwood in the Lancashire Cup quarter finals on Sunday having squeezed in some much-needed game time at the weekend.

A dominant 36-0 win over their Southport counterparts on Sunday means they are in good form and coach Dan Johnstone is pleased to have gained some valuable preparation time unhindered by the weather.

“With poor weather, at this point in the season you just want games,” he said.

“We build everything from a good defence so the nil was a good sign.

“We need to work on our running lines and timing but I think we’re in a good place going into Sunday’s quarter final.”

Nathan Bass and Jim Hartill both scored twice for Warrington, whose other try came from Jude Lightfoot.

Jude Smith and Cam Sutcliffe also kicked conversions for the visitors.

Kick off for Sunday’s last-eight tie is at 11am.
