WARRINGTON Wolves Women stepped up their preparations for their first ever Super League season on Sunday.

Unfortunately, however, they slipped to a 32-12 defeat to fellow top-flight outfit Featherstone Rovers at Victoria Park.

In a Wire squad that was a mixture of new faces and players from 2019’s promotion-winning campaign, Georgia Sutherland and Megan Moore scored tries for Lee Westwood’s side.

Meanwhile, the Wire Women will face a repeat of last season’s Championship Grand Final in this year’s Challenge Cup.

The second-round draw has paired Wolves with Barrow, whom they thrashed 40-4 to confirm their promotion to the Women’s Super League.

Westwood’s side were drawn away from home for the tie, which will be played on Sunday, March 22.

Their Super League campaign will get underway the following Sunday – March 29 – when 2018 champions Wigan Warriors are the visitors to Victoria Park.
