HULL FC will be without one of their new signings through suspension when they welcome The Wire to the KCOM Stadium on Thursday.

Forward Ligi Sao will sit out the game having been handed a one-match penalty notice by the RFL’s Match Review Panel.

The panel charged Sao with Grade A striking following an incident involving Wakefield’s former Wolves and Hull forward Joe Westerman during the Airlie Birds’ golden-point win at the Mobile Rocket Stadium.

Meanwhile, Wire centre Keanan Brand will face no further action for the incident which saw Castleford Tigers awarded a penalty try on Friday.

With Tigers winger Calum Turner set to score a try in the corner, Brand’s desperate attempt to stop him saw him make contact with Turner’s head and while he still maintained possession and grounded the ball, his foot had gone into touch.

After consultation with the video referee, on-field official Robert Hicks awarded a penalty try but The Wire went on to win 9-8.

The panel concluded that the on-field decision was sufficient punishment for Brand, with the centre deemed to have made a genuine attempt to tackle and making initial contact with Turner’s shoulder.
