COACH Peter Millachip was full of praise for “an excellent advert for second-team rugby” as his Lymm seconds side saw off their Chester counterparts.

Two tries from George Norman and one each from Josh Davies and Jake Ashall earned the home side the victory at Beechwood as they took centre stage with no first team game.

Tom Shard also kicked three conversions and a penalty and was one of the players singled out for praise by Millachip.

“This game was an excellent advert for second-team rugby,” he said.

“Both sides performed well with the result in the balance throughout.

“We showed great courage in defence and excellent support play to keep the bigger Chester side at bay.

“In the forwards, everyone put a shift in with Jake Ashall outstanding in both attack and defence, ably assisted by James Yates and James Pitcher.

Also, young Sam Dickenson showed great improvement as he looks more comfortable at this level.

“In the backs, Tom Shard managed the game well with George Norman showing his talent as a runner to score two excellent tries.”

The Lymm Eagles third team could not join them in the winners' enclosure, however, as they lost 49-27 at Northwich's seconds.

There is no second team game on Saturday but the firsts return to action in the North Premier with a trip to Morpeth.
