HERE is what some of Mike Cooper's current Warrington Wolves teammates had to say about him ahead of his Testimonial match...

Jack Hughes:

"He’s a classic Warrington lad.

"Coops loves the club and loves the town. He talks about it all the time, and has his own business in the town.

"Mike’s very driven and he knows what he wants to achieve. He doesn’t take a backward step.

"If he wants to say something to get it off his chest, he’ll say it. That’s something I admire about him, he’s strong, knows what he believes in and knows what he stands for, and I like a person who’s got that in them.

"He shows that on the pitch in the way that he plays. He plays aggressive, with a bit of punch, and doesn’t take a backward step.

"Mike’s a great guy to be around, a massive leader within our group and a lot of the boys look up to him.

"He fully deserves his Testimonial. He has been a good servant to the club, tried his hand in the NRL and did well over there.

"Hopefully before Mike’s time’s up we can get him a Grand Final win with Warrington Wolves. That would be nice."

Keanan Brand:

"He deserves it massively. He’s great with everyone and will always give you the time of day. "He’s really humble as well but you don’t realise how much he means to the team."

Ben Murdoch-Masila:

"He’s the kind of player that everyone wants in their team. He will take the ball in where no-one else will.

"When you see players like Coops doing that, you can’t help but be inspired by him and want to go with him."

Steve Price:

"He’s been one of the most consistent players in Super League, especially over the past two seasons.

"He’s been great for our club and he’s a great guy to coach.

"He sets high standards and expectations for himself and is the ultimate professional.

"On and off the field, he’s consistent and I’m expecting another really big year for him.

"It would be great if we could get a big crowd for him against Salford. There would be no better reward for someone who really deserves it."

Gareth Widdop:

"He's been at Warrington for a long time now so all credit to Coops.

"It would have been great to run out alongside him and the boys for his Testimonial, but injuries are part of rugby league.

"He’s been a leader in the team and one of the older heads.

Everyone follows him so when I’m fit, I’m looking forward to playing with him again."

Warrington Guardian:

Daryl Clark:

"He’s a good player. He’s been on the other side of the world playing for St George and was really successful there.

"I’ve played with him for the last four years and both him and Hilly in the front row have been outstanding, really consistent.

"I can’t fault him. Doing 10 years and having a Testimonial is a massive achievement and for him to do it at his hometown club as well is well deserved. He deserves all the accolades and financial rewards he gets."
