EAGLE will go into Saturday’s mammoth clash with promotion rivals Prenton on top of the table despite not playing at the weekend.
While their trip to Oldershaw fell victim to the weather, a decision by the North West Intermediate League to award points for postponed fixtures allowed Eagle to move up from second after their game was declared a draw.
Prenton fell to only their second defeat of the season at West Park on Saturday and having handed Eagle their only loss so far, it adds to the already intriguing narrative of the clash at Thornton Road.
“Its great to be top of the division, but we had a strong team on Saturday and we were confident that we could record another win,” Eagle coach Ste Yates said.
“But there is nothing we can do about the weather.
“Hopefully this week’s dry spell will improve as we have a massive game against Prenton at home on Saturday.
“Having recorded our only loss against the Merseyside team earlier in the season, we are looking to make amends.”
