STE Yates paid tribute to his Eagle side for a much-improved display in beating Wallasey on Saturday.

Chris Bates ran in a hat-trick of tries in a 40-5 victory at Thornton Road as the hosts put in a dominant display.

Danny Cahill, twice, and Martin Young also crossed as Eagle led 26-0 at half time and continued to dominate after the break.

“We stuck to our game plan unlike last week. We scored early and never let up,” Yates said in summary.

“Unlike the Christleton game, we carried the ball and had a good set piece. Our defence was fantastic for 80 minutes.”

Eagle’s next fixture sees them travel to Oldershaw on Saturday.
