WARRINGTON Futsal Club could still cap their inaugural season with an appearance at St George’s Park – the base of the England national football teams.

The clubs under 10s and under 14s teams booked their place in the next stages of the FA Youth Futsal Cup, following the lead of the under 16s side.

Should they reach the national finals, they will play on the same stage upon which the Futsal Home Nations Championship has just been held.

Warrington’s under 10s were on the road at Heath College in Runcorn for their qualifying tournament, which went down to the wire.

They needed at least a draw in their final, winner-take-all clash with Sala Futsal after beating teams from Manchester and Chester.

Warrington’s superior goal difference provided a safety net and while Sala scored late to threaten to spoil the party, they held on to qualify.

The under 14s’ progression was much smoother as they recorded a comprehensive, 16-goal aggregate victory at Cardinal Newman High School.
