RYLANDS manager Dave McNabb says his side “got their just rewards” by scoring late to beat Whitchurch Alport on Tuesday night.

Substitute Jay White’s goal four minutes from time secured a 2-1 win at Gorsey Lane – Blues’ third league win in succession.

McNabb’s side were dominant for much of the contest but were frustrated by a well-organised visiting outfit before eventually breaking their resolve.

They even fell behind early thanks to David Howarth’s goal, but that was cancelled out just six minutes later by home debutant Lewis Buckley’s equaliser.

Blues boss McNabb says White’s winning goal was the right reward for them sticking to their trusted passing style until the end.

“I was a little bit disappointed to be level at half time, to be honest,” he said.

“Whitchurch defended really well as a unit and tried to stop us playing. We created loads of chances in the first half but the final ball wasn’t right.

“As the second half goes on, you’re obviously thinking we might run out of time but all credit to the lads.

“They stuck to their guns, carried on trying to play the right way and we got our just rewards in the end.”
