GREAT Britain’s shambolic tour sunk to a new low after being thrashed by Papua New Guinea this morning.

Blake Austin – one of five Warrington Wolves players in Wayne Bennett’s side – had scored the game’s opening try before Josh Hodgson gave the Lions a 10-0 lead.

However, that was as good as it got as the Kumuls ran riot in the second half in Port Moresby to record a 28-10 victory.

Edwin Ipape’s burst from dummy-half on the stroke of half time set up a dominant second period in which four tries were scored in front of a raucous home crowd.

Watson Boas, Justin Olam, Alex Johnstone and Nixon Putt were all on the scoresheet for PNG as they secured a historic and deserved win.

It means Great Britain will return from their tour with four defeats from as many games.

Gareth Widdop, Chris Hill and Jack Hughes all started for Bennett’s men, with Joe Philbin coming off the bench.
