THEY may have slipped to a penalty shoot-out defeat, but Warrington Town's youngsters gained vital experience in last night's Integro League Cup trip to Kidsgrove Athletic.

Paul Carden picked a young squad including eight teenagers and it looked like the decision would pay off as Jewad Jerbin and Iwan Murray put them 2-0 up.

However, two late Kidsgrove goals pulled the tie level before the hosts won 4-2 on penalties, with Mitch Duggan and Sheldon Jordan both missing spot-kicks for Yellows.
