ANTHONY Gelling looks likely to play a central role in deciding who gets the final spot in the 2021 Rugby League World Cup.
The new Warrington Wolves signing has been named in the Cook Islands squad for their qualifier against the USA on November 16.
The winner of the game, which takes place in Jacksonville, Florida, will claim the 16th and final spot in the tournament to be held in England.
Gelling is one of three Super League players in the Kukris squad which will be coached by former Wigan man Tony Iro – St Helens second rower Dom Peyroux and Wakefield prop Adam Tangata are the others.
The centre also featured in the Cook Islands’ World Cup Nines campaign last month, scoring tries against Tonga and Fiji.
