FORMER Warrington Wolves hooker Micky Higham has moved into coaching after hanging up his playing boots.
Higham, who made 165 appearances for The Wire and was part of three Challenge Cup Final victories, has been appointed as a strength and conditioning coach by hometown club Leigh Centurions.
It is a role he started the 2019 season in with the Centurions but stepped back as he continued playing.
The dummy-half finally retired for good at the end of the campaign and calls his new role “daunting but exciting.”
"My job will be trying to get the lads in the best possible condition for the season,” the 39-year-old said.
“I've always enjoyed training and I have my own gym in Leigh. It's a part of the sport I've always been interested in.
"I'm looking forward to the challenge and I will be trying to apply the principles I lived by as a player – to work hard, set standards and give your all.
"It's new territory to be on this side of the fence so it's daunting but also exciting."
