RYLANDS are through to the second round of the FA Vase after comfortably brushing aside Bootle at Gorsey Lane.

Blues were 3-0 winners as they ended a run of four straight defeats in fine style.

Manager Dave McNabb paid full credit to his players for sticking to what they know best despite their stuttering form.

“The dip in form has been tough for everybody involved, but we’ve kept with it,” he said.

“We’ve proven how good we can be time and time again over the past 18 months.

“Today was just about getting the work rate and hard work back and luckily, we came out on top.

“I thought we could have taken the lead before we actually did – we had a few half-chances that we could have done better with – but we got the goal in the end and that’s the most important thing.”

Rylands struck twice in the final five minutes of the first half – George Lomax steered home Freddie Potter’s cross before Kane Drummond slotted in following Andy Scarisbrick’s delightful through ball.

Blues were penned back for most of the second half but added a third goal in the later stages as Adam Jones and Ste Wolhulter played a nice one-two for the former to finish.
