BLAKE Austin has refuted claims he is suffering from homesickness and says he "would love to stick around" at Warrington Wolves.

The Wire stand-off – one of five shortlisted for the Steve Prescott Man of Steel award following a stellar first season in Super League – posted the message on his Instagram page.

In it, he says the way his season finished was "gut-wrenching" for him – an ankle injury forced him to miss the Challenge Cup Final win over St Helens while he sustained a medial knee ligament injury during last week's Super League elimination play-off loss to Castleford Tigers.

With his recovery expected to take between three and four weeks, Austin would likely have missed the Super League Grand Final should The Wire have made it to Old Trafford.

There had been rumblings on social media that the 28-year-old was suffering from homesickness, but his post is a reassuring one for Wolves fans.

Warrington Guardian:

Austin finished the season as Warrington's top tryscorer having crossed 19 times in all competitions.
