ADAM Fletcher wants his Lymm side to “tighten up” their kicking game when they travel to Northern Premier leaders Billingham on Saturday, kick off 2.15pm.

The Beechwood outfit face the daunting task of becoming the first side to stop their hosts from winning this season as they share top spot with Harrogate.

Lymm make the trip to the north east having drawn 27-27 with Wirral on Saturday – a game in which they trailed by 14 points.

With that in mind, Fletcher was happy to take the draw but bemoaned too many “basic mistakes” from his side.

"It was a very bizarre match where both teams tried their best to lose it,” he said.

“After being 14-0 down, to come away with a draw is pleasing.

“We made too many basic mistakes and didn't execute effectively enough.

“We definitely need to tighten up our kicking game for next week."

Richard McEvoy’s try and Cormac Nolan’s penalty dragged Lymm back into the game after their poor start, but they still trailed by nine points at half time.

Two interception tries – courtesy of Scott Redfern and Joe Senior – turned the game on its head, with the latter try coming while Lymm had been reduced to 13 men following yellow cards for Matty Connolly and Gav Woods.

Wirral equalised with a try of their own and with both sides then swapping penalties, the scores remained level.

Lymm: Gav Woods, James Pitcher, James Mawdsley, Joe Watson, Aaron Rasheed, Matty Connolly, Rory Riddell, Adam Bray; George Anderson, Scott Redfern; Joe Senior, James Kimber, Ben Stansfield, Richard McEvoy, Cormac Nolan. Subs: Jordan Widdrington, Jake Ashall, Alfie Simpson

Lymm’s seconds were beaten 42-22 at Caldy, with Tom Baker, twice, and Josh Hadland scoring tries to go with two conversions and a penalty from Rhys Jones.

Lymm 2nd: M Hand, D Horton, H Ratcliffe, W Baldwin, H Baldwin, J Long, J Hadland, S Dickinson, T Baker, R Jones, O Thornton, J Bond, G Norman, J Hamer, A Hickman. Reps: C Chilvers, K Soni, J Reynolds

The thirds were beaten 68-36 at home by Manchester’s seconds.
