THANKS to a remarkable golden-point victory, Crosfields are just one win away from promotion.

After coming out on top in an extraordinary play-off semi final at Wigan St Judes, Soap travel to Hull Dockers with the aim of securing the final spot in National Conference League Division One.

The sides shared 84 points in normal time on Saturday before Danny Garcia O’Brien’s try in the extra period sealed a 46-42 win for the visitors.

“We are doing things the hard way but thoroughly deserve our shot at promotion after that win,” head coach Ian Boden said.

“At 42-42 after 80 minutes, the supporters had their money’s worth with regard to entertaining rugby.

“Golden point followed and it gave everyone a gripping eight minutes until Danny sealed the win after both sides had thwarted drop-goal attempts.

“Twice we had 12-point leads eliminate, the last one with 15 minutes to go which led to the draw.

“Great ethos from my boys as they kept their heads up and showed attitude.

“I'm really looking forward to next week and the lads are buzzing.”

The winning try was Garcia O’Brien’s second of the afternoon, with fellow centre Jack Roper also scoring twice for Soap.

Skipper Jack Reid scored a try and seven goals, with Hayden James, John Whittaker and Luke Walker also on the scoresheet.

For Judes, centre Connor Parkinson scored five tries but still ended up on the losing side.
