WARRINGTON Wolves under 19s are one step closer to securing a play-off place in the Academy Super League.

Victory at Castleford Tigers on Saturday, kick off 12noon, will secure a top-four spot.

The Wire youngsters beat Bradford Bulls 24-18 in their final home game of 2019 on Saturday thanks to tries from Ellis Longstaff, Riley Dean, Reece Hamlett and Alex Pendlebury.

“The boys managed to get the win without being at their best,” academy head coach Paul Anderson said.

“We were a little disrespectful with the ball when in possession and that saw us making more handling errors than is acceptable.

“On the flip side, that meant we had to defend for longer periods and our try line defence was very good, especially in the first half.

We have moved a step closer to securing a top-four place but we will need to improve away at Castleford Tigers to make absolutely sure.”
