WITH promotion secured, Woolston Rovers are now gunning for the National Conference League Division Three title.

The Green and Golds have their fate in their own hands heading into their final three games of the season – if they win them all, the title is theirs.

A trip to Eastmoor Dragons is first up on Saturday, kick off 2.30pm, and head coach Mal Holt insists there will be no loosening of the reigns despite their place in Division Two for next year being secure.

“We have got ourselves into a position where it is in our own hands if we are to win the league,” he said.

“That means that we must play every game to the best of our potential to ensure that we keep our winning run going.

“Eastmoor is a really tough place to go to and all games we have had against them over the past three years have gone down to the wire.

“They have some quality players who can cause us trouble, so we will need to keep our discipline and respect the ball when we are in possession.

“If we can do this, we have a great chance of coming home with the right result.”

Rovers confirmed their promotion by beating fellow contenders Heworth 24-10 at Monk Sports Club on Saturday.

Two more tries for Adam Files, one from his brother Harry and another from Josh Sudlow ensured the victory – their sixth in a row.

“We had spoken all week about this just being another game and we approached everything the same as we normally do,” Holt said.

“We struggled a little early on with their quick play-the-ball, gave a few silly penalties away and made a few uncharacteristic errors but we addressed that and were by far the better side.

“Our quick play-the-ball from Adam Files and Ryan Brown is really hurting teams and we are winning games on the back of that.

“We will not be letting our foot off the gas and know that we have three difficult games to go if we are to finish top, which is now our new goal.”
