MANAGER Dave McNabb hailed his Rylands side’s display in Saturday’s 5-0 win over Avro as their best of the season to date.

In what was their first game without former player/co-manager Stuart Wellstead, who stepped down to continue playing with Wythenshawe Town, Blues thumped their visitors to continue their 100 per cent North West Counties League Premier Division record.

George Lomax and Harry Molyneux both scored twice – with the former also missing a penalty in the first half – with Adam Jones scoring Rylands’ other goal at Gorsey Lane.

McNabb says the display was just what he wanted from his side after their FA Cup exit at the hands of Runcorn Town the previous week.

“It was without doubt our best performance of the season so far,” he said.

“The performance was exactly what we've been looking for.

“Despite picking up two league wins from two and showing glimpses in spells, we hadn't reached the level of performance that I know we're capable of for a full 90 minutes.

“On this occasion, we did.

“The lads gave the reaction that we asked for after our disappointing defeat in the FA Cup.

“From start to finish I thought we were excellent. We created lots of chances and defensively we limited a strong Avro side to a couple of half-chances and efforts from distance.”

Blues are back in action tonight as they travel to Burscough, kick off 7.45pm.
