THREE of the five Warrington Athletics Club runners taking part in Sunday’s Birchwood 10km road race came away with age group victories.

First to finish was Colin Bishop, who ran excellently to finish 20th overall and his time of 35mins 27secs saw him win the over 55s age group.

Mervyn Ward was next home in 108th place and first over 60s runner to finish in 40mins 56secs while close behind him was Louise Blizzard, who was 115th overall to win the women’s over 40s category in 41mins 18secs.

Kelly Crossley placed seventh in the over 35s with a time of 44mins 6secs which saw her finish 166th overall while Joanna Robbins was fourth in the women’s over 45 age group as she clocked 46mins 30secs to come home 237th.

The Fun Run for young runners saw Tom Welsby just finish third ahead of younger brother Joe who was fourth, while Alfie Blizzard was close behind in sixth.
