WARRINGTON Wolves Women continued their assault on promotion to the Women’s Super League on Sunday – but not before some “stern words” at half time.

They won 32-4 at Stanningley to maintain a three-point lead at the top of the Women’s Championship with an eighth straight win.

However, despite leading 14-4 at the interval, head coach Lee Westwood said he had to give his players a strong talking-to in the dressing rooms but was proud of the way they reacted.

“It was probably our toughest test on Sunday. They were very physical,” he said.

“We turned up in the first half and thought we only had to go on the field to win.

“They had some stern words given to them at half time and we got our house back in order.

“I’m so proud of them for the way they reacted to the half-time talk. They really worked for each other, ran harder and tackled harder.”

The Wire Women’s next game sees them take on Oulton Raidettes at Victoria Park on Sunday, September 1.
