ADAM Fletcher was pleased with the run-out his Lymm Rugby Club side got on Saturday as their pre-season preparations stepped up a gear.

A squad of 26 took on Bowdon in a warm-up match over four 20-minute sessions at Beechwood and emerged 59-24 victors.

Lymm were just two points ahead at the halfway point but superior fitness told in the last two quarters as they scored 33 points without reply.

“Overall, we’re happy with the run-out,” Fletcher said.

“There were lots of positives to take from the match but also lots to work on.

“We will review the video footage and learn from our mistakes.”

The likes of Matty Hand, Dan Horton, Cormac Nolan and Rhys Jones returned from long-term injury lay-offs while a host of youngsters got their first taste of first-team rugby.

The match was a continuation of Lymm’s preparations for the new North Premier season following a joint training session with Sandbach and a squad weekend in North Wales.

Lymm will have an internal club practice game tonight, Thursday, and one more pre-season friendly at home to Waterloo on Saturday, August 31.

Blackburn are the visitors to Beechwood in Lymm’s opening league game on Saturday, September 7.
