SOME hurdles training on a Welsh beach paid dividends for Warrington Athletics Club youngster Meg Corker at the weekend.
She returned from a holiday in Barmouth in time to take part in the Northern Age Group Championships in Liverpool and came away with a silver medal in the under 15s 75m hurdles.
She clocked 11.79secs in the final – marginally slower than her heat-winning time of 11.78secs – to finish behind Sale Harriers’ Hermione Mason.
Theo Danquah competed in two events in the under 17s age group, finishing sixth in his 100m heat by clocking 12.32secs and 13th in the long jump with a leap of 5.18m.
Joel Birchall’s time of 2mins 10.73secs was good enough for fifth place in his 800m heat but did not qualify him for the final while Joe Roberts was ninth in the 3,000m as he finished in 9mins 52.64secs.
