DESPITE having 11 players missing to force their head coach to play in the centres, Crosfields were able to rack up a fourth straight win on Saturday.
They did it in style too as they thrashed hosts Shaw Cross Sharks 52-6, with Jack Reid and Tom Millington both scoring hat-tricks.
Alex Clutterbuck and Luke Walker also crossed for Soap, with Reid kicking seven goals.
Fresh from his unexpected on-field stint, head coach Ian Boden hailed his team’s resilience as they maintained their play-off push.
“I wasn't expecting to play 80 minutes of rugby for the whole season, let alone one match,” he said.
“It was tough out there – Shaw Cross were relentless with their efforts but our training as a squad paid dividends.
“We had Tom Millington and Jack Reid both scoring hat-tricks and despite playing on Wednesday, Alex Clutterbuck was faultless at full back and looked as fresh as a daisy.
“That's four wins on the run for us and we are hitting a rich vein coming up to the play-offs.”
Soap are sixth in the National Conference League Division Two table with games in hand on the sides around them, one of which was due to be against bottom side Askam last night, Wednesday.
