Here's what Fred Done says in this week's Betfred column

WOLVES chief executive Karl Fitzpatrick need not worry for I’m sure his club’s faithful fans won’t let him down – and turn up in record numbers for the Challenge Cup final later this month.

He’s looking for the travelling Wire Army to beat last year’s 7,000 for what should be a fantastic game at Wembley.

It was brilliant that local lad Joe Philbin scored the late try against Hull FC in the keenly fought semi-final at Bolton University Stadium.

Coach Steve Price has kept faith with the 24 year old Warrington academy product who was so refreshing in his post-match interviews saying he puts his body on the line in every training session – never mind matches.

And he revealed he nowadays sometimes gets recognised in his home town and asked for his autograph...which his girlfriend seems to like!

After losing their last six finals, Price is determined they will be brides – not bridesmaids – on August 24.

But they will have to beat the odds to do so as Betfred have them 7/4 to lift the cup with runaway Betfred Super League leaders St Helens 1/ 2.

For super confident Warrington supporters, perhaps loving the expertise of Aussie marquee signing Blake Austin, you can have Wire at 7/1 to win the Challenge Cup AND triumph at the Grand Final at Old Trafford on October 12.

Blake was the 8/1 favourite for the 2019 Steve Prescott Man of Steel before a ball was kicked this season – and he’s still in pole position.

After numerous man of the match performances he’s now 4/6 to pick up the top individual accolade ahead of Salford’s Wigan-bound Jackson Hastings at 13/8.

The Ashes get under way of course today, Thursday, and the Aussies will be looking to reclaim top dog status in the world of cricket.

After THAT world cup final at Lord’s there has been a huge surge of interest in cricket with England’s white ball heroes rightly taking the plaudits.

A top player who didn’t take part in the competition – one Jimmy Anderson, Lancashire’s Burnley Express – is 5/2 to be top wicket taker in the first test at Edgbaston which is smashing value.

Finally I was delighted to hand over a cheque for £32,000 to Sky TV presenter Dave Clark for Parkinson’s UK at the end of the highly successful Betfred-sponsored World Matchplay Darts competition in Blackpool on Sunday.

I’m so pleased we’ve expanded our sponsorship portfolio to take in this entertaining sport – and it was great the charity is to benefit from the number of 180s thrown and the nine-dart challenge.
